Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question about starting a fundraiser and looking for a quick answer? Check out our frequently asked questions below!

What is Celebrate a Loved One for Epilepsy Foundation?

Our Celebrate a Loved One campaign to benefit the Epilepsy Foundation allows you to create your own fundraiser and raise money and spread awareness on behalf of the Epilepsy Foundation. If you are looking to create a fundraiser in honor or support of someone, you can use this campaign to create your own fundraising page.

Creating a campaign to Celebrate a Loved One allows us to come together across the nation and work towards one common mission - a world free from epilepsy and free from fear of the next seizure.

Who can create their own page?

Anyone can create a page to honor or remember a loved one to benefit the Epilepsy Foundation!

Do I have to create an online fundraising page to donate in celebration of a loved one?

You do not have to create an online campaign, however we highly recommend it. Creating your own campaign page allows you to easily personalize and share your story, and also securely accept online donations. By creating an online page, supporters can conveniently and safely contribute to your fundraiser. Click here to setup your personal online campaign.

What if I receive cash or checks for donations?

We accept all donations! You can mail check donations to the below address:

Epilepsy Foundation
Celebrate a Loved One c/o [YOUR CAMPAIGN NAME]
3540 Crain Highway Ste 675
Bowie, MD 20716

We do not recommend sending cash donations through the mail. The best way to handle cash donations would be to deposit them in your own bank and make an online donation through your fundraising page or sending a check to the above address if possible.

Please note, if they would like to receive an IRS tax-deductible letter for any donation, checks must be written out to the Epilepsy Foundation and online donations must be made to your fundraising page or directly to the Epilepsy Foundation.

Is there a registration fee to host my own fundraiser?

There is no registration fee to sign-up to create your own page.

How is the money from my fundraiser being used?

The funds raised support our mission to lead the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures, and save lives. With a Four Star Charity Navigator Rating, $.83 of every dollar we raise is used both locally and nationwide to fund research into new therapies, education and awareness, and advocacy efforts. See this page for further information.

Are donations tax-deductible?

Yes, The Epilepsy Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization so all gifts are tax-deductible as permitted by law.
