The Epilepsy Foundation SUDEP Institute is dedicated for find a way to predict and prevent Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy, or SUDEP.
Identifying biomarkers to predict and prevent SUDEP represents a major unmet medical need. Although there are several postulated causes of SUDEP, who is at risk of mortality and how to prevent it still remain a mystery.
Determined to bring an end to SUDEP and help people with seizures live to their fullest potential, the Epilepsy Foundation SUDEP Institute is challenging Solvers worldwide to identify specific and sensitive biomarkers of SUDEP to facilitate the development of intervention for people at high risk. The Challenge allows the Epilepsy Foundation SUDEP Institute to take advantage of interdisciplinary approaches and alternative perspectives. Through combining and contrasting ideas, the best and most valuable solutions will be identified and financially supported.
Our goal is to raise $1.2 million for this two-phased challenge initiative. In phase one, we will award $15,000 to Solvers who present the most innovative and promising ideas. We will encourage them to participate in the second phase to further develop their ideas and prove their hypotheses. The final challenge will award $1 million to the solution deemed to be exemplar by a team of expert reviewers.
Join our effort and show the world how important it is to predict and prevent SUDEP. By making a donation and spreading the word about this challenge you will be a part of an effort that is going to save the lives of people with epilepsy.
